HasGeek chevron_right Aaron Swartz Memorial Hacknight

HasGeek runs this website. We occasionally do events that don't fall under a larger brand.

On 19 January 2013, HasGeek organized the Aaron Swartz Memorial Hacknight to spread awareness about the causes that Aaron was fighting for, and to encourage developers to work on Aaron's code projects.

The hacknight started at 3 PM with two discussions about Aaron's life, his works and the social and political implications of fighting for internet freedoms, access to information and open data. Anand Chitipothu of the Internet Archive conducted a workshop on web.py which helped developers get started on some of the projects they had proposed for the event. The hacknight ended on January 20th, at 8 AM.
